01DAY

Northern Kyoto, Bamboo, River and Golden Pavilion

Arriving early in Arashiyama, essential to enjoy the bamboo grove with few visitors, comes before Tenryuji temple, a World Heritage site, and the climb to Iwatayama Monkey Park for the panorama over Kyoto. In the afternoon, a descent of the Hozugawa river by flat-bottomed boat, or the open-carriage Sagano train, crosses the gorges. The day ends at Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion covered in gold leaf.
